Personal loan for self-employed people and gig workers
Shop owners, freelancers, drivers and delivery partners can borrow too — the difference is how you show your income. 5 of 5 lenders on Innopay Money accept self-employed applicants, at listed rates of 12% to 36% a year.
Proving income without a salary slip
Lenders look for steady money coming in. Depending on the lender, that can be shown with:
- Bank statements of the account your business or work payments go into — often 6 to 12 months.
- Income-tax returns, if you file them.
- GST returns or Udyam registration, if your business has them.

Gig, delivery and freelance work
If you earn through a delivery or ride app, or from clients as a freelancer, your payouts land in your bank account — and that record is your income proof. Payouts that arrive every week or month, from the same platforms, read as steadier income than irregular lump sums. Keeping work payments in one account, separate from personal transfers, makes them easier for a lender to verify.
Personal loan or business loan?
A personal loan is unsecured and judged on you; a business loan is judged on the business and may need more paperwork. For stock, equipment or working capital, a business loan can suit better. For a personal need, a personal loan is usually simpler. Smaller amounts are listed widely — see small loans.
If your income varies month to month
Base the EMI on a lean month, not a good one. A shorter loan for a smaller amount is easier to keep up when income dips — missed EMIs add charges and are reported to credit bureaus.

Can I get a personal loan without an ITR?
Some lenders can assess income from bank statements instead of income-tax returns. What each lender accepts differs, and it tells you during the application.
I work for a delivery or ride app. Can I apply?
Yes, you can apply. Your payouts in your bank account are your income record; regular payouts read as steadier income. The lender decides based on its own checks.
Do self-employed borrowers pay more interest?
Sometimes. Some lenders quote a different rate band for self-employed applicants; this page shows how many do today. Your offer shows your rate and the APR.
